Sacramento Startup Events
Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Sacramento Startup Events Android application (the "App"), developed and published by Gilentic Technologies ("Gilentic," "we," "us," or "our"), accesses and handles information. The App provides a convenient view of public startup event and application information from the Techstars Sacramento Startup Digest newsletter.
Summary
- The App does not require an account or login.
- The App does not ask you to submit personal information.
- We do not use advertising, analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs in the App.
- We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
- The App uses Internet access to retrieve public newsletter content.
Information the App Accesses
The App loads a public Techstars Sacramento Startup Digest webpage hosted by Letterhead and extracts publicly available event and application details, such as names, dates, times, locations, descriptions, deadlines, and public links. This public content is displayed on your device.
When your device connects to a website, that website and its hosting providers may automatically receive standard network information such as your IP address, browser or WebView user-agent, request time, and similar technical data. The App does not send this information to a Gilentic application server. The third-party website's own privacy practices govern information it receives.
Device Features and Local Processing
Date filtering and event parsing occur on your device. Current event content and filter selections are used during the active App session. The App does not create a user profile or store these choices in a Gilentic account.
The App uses Android System WebView to load the public newsletter. WebView or the source website may use standard cache, cookies, or local website storage. You can remove local App data through Android Settings or by uninstalling the App.
If you choose Add to Calendar, the App sends the selected public event details to a calendar application through Android's standard calendar intent. The App does not request calendar permission and does not read your existing calendar. Your chosen calendar provider handles the event under its own privacy policy.
External Links and Third Parties
The App may open public pages in your browser, including Startup Digest, StartupSac, event registration, application, privacy, terms, and Gilentic pages. Those services are independent of the App and may collect information under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies before providing information to a third party.
Data Sharing
Gilentic does not collect or share personal or sensitive user data through the App. Network requests go directly from your device to the public content source or to a link you choose to open. We may disclose information you separately send to us only when needed to respond to you, protect the App, comply with law, or protect legal rights.
Security
The App requires encrypted HTTPS connections and disables cleartext network traffic. No method of Internet transmission or device storage is completely secure, but we use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the limited information handled by the App.
Data Retention
Gilentic does not maintain App accounts, profiles, analytics records, advertising identifiers, or a server-side history of your App activity. Event information used by the App is public content and is processed locally for display. Standard WebView cache or website data remains under Android/WebView controls and can be cleared through your device settings.
If you voluntarily contact Gilentic by email or through our website, we may retain your message and contact details only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain support records, meet legal obligations, prevent abuse, or resolve disputes. We then delete or anonymize the information when it is no longer needed.
Data and Account Deletion
The App does not create user accounts and Gilentic does not retain server-side personal data from App use, so there is no App account to delete. You can delete locally stored App cache and website data in Android Settings by selecting the App and choosing Storage and cache, then Clear storage or Clear cache. Uninstalling the App also removes its local App data, subject to Android device and backup settings.
To ask us to delete information you previously sent through a support email or Gilentic web form, email info1@gilentic.com with the subject "Sacramento Startup Events Privacy Request," or use the Gilentic contact form. We may need to verify that the request relates to you before deleting support records, and we may retain limited information when required by law, security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.
Children's Privacy
The App is a general-audience event information service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated when required by law or Google Play policy.
